What's New

Dear Rock Run Participant and Supporter,

In 1988, a local Nantucket Lifeguard trained to be the first to run around the entire island of Nantucket in a single day. Jim Storey completed this feat in memory of his father while fundraising over $2,000 for charity that year.

Many years later, the run has had only a few minor modifications, mostly to the course (due to nesting shorebirds), but the core principles and the incredible effort required to complete the race have not changed. The Rock Run welcomes regulars and newcomers, soloists and relay teams, to battle it out for the coveted "Cobblestone Cup" (team) and the "Storey Cup" (solo) on one of the most beautiful islands in the world.

We have been working towards staging the 2016 Rock Run on September 3rd. Unfortunately, our Race Director, Jamie Ranney, suffered a leg injury last weekend that will require a long recovery. Reality has hit us that we will not be able to stage the Rock Run in 2016. Jamie is the main reason why this run continues, and without him to perform all the tasks needed from permitting, arranging boat transport, coordination with Town officials, conservation groups and private property owners, the event will simply not run as operationally sound and safe.

It wasn't an easy decision but we feel it is the right one for this year.

The Rock Run will be back in 2017.
